Many people think that the best way of surfing in Costa Rica is to rent a car and try to follow the surf. This, with very few exceptions, is the best way to spend a lot of unnecessary time in your car and miss the waves.

For anyone who is interested in surfing, Costa Rica is one place you may want to visit. It has many beaches with world class surfing especially along the Pacific Coast.  Surfers with any level of experience will find a break here to suit them.

Two of the main areas for surfers are Jaco on the Central Pacific Coast and Tamarindo on the North Pacific Coast.  But experienced surfers may want to travel the coast of Costa Rica looking for the more remote beaches with the amazing surfs and superb breaks.  With 700 miles of coastline and thousands of breaks, there is something here for everyone.  Surfing here is consistent the whole year through and the water is constantly warm.

Many of the towns and villages in Costa Rica have taken advantage of the surfing conditions here and have made sure there is affordable accommodation readily available here with friendly atmospheres and fun nightlife.  The surfing in many of the beaches is so good that they are home to some of the best international surfing competitions and Costa Rica has become a destination which is bound to be on the must see list of any surfer.
